Catherine Bell /
Catkins Illustrations

Cat is an experienced Womenswear Designer and Freelance Illustrator based across London & Cambridge. Cat is super resourceful, proactive, and all-round inspiring! Having voluntarily created, ran, and wrapped up an NHS Scrub Hub during Global Retreat in Spring 2020, she wanted to keep her creative juices flowing, which is when Catkins Illustrations was born.

From personalised illustrations for the perfect present, to creating custom prints and artwork for private and commercial clients – she finds that each new project is just as exciting as the last! No idea is too big or small.

CAT x TWS
Cat and Aksara first met in 2007 whilst studying Fashion at College in Cambridgeshire. Having become super close over the years, Cat has become one of Aksara’s oldest, and best friends. She is without a doubt one of the most talented, creative, and influential people that to Woke Souls has partnered with.

Cat is an incredibly versatile designer, whether the website requires detailed graphic illustrations, or simpler linear artworks, she is always able to deliver exactly what the space needs. Taking over from Chloe in 2020, Cat has successfully drawn inspiration from the colour palette of the new branding in 2020, to create beautiful and simplistic designs for the article headers, and continues to do so every month.

Chloe White

Chloe is a Printmaker, Painter and Illustrator with bases in East London and Cambridge. Within her personal work Chloe primarily explores female representation, aiming to produce work that normalises the natural female form, celebrating its beauty. In a society that tells women to alter and change their bodies in order to conform to unrealistic beauty standards, it is important to expose and normalise the “taboo” parts of the body so that women feel proud of the skin they’re in.

Chloe enjoys working with a range of materials depending on what she feels called to explore at that particular time. She loves to combine an intricate continuous line with bright, bold and expressive marks. Chloe feels that art should be eye-catching and unique, which is why she tends to choose a varied multi-coloured palette. She feels this method ensures that her pieces always offer a fun alternative to the everyday realism pieces.

CHLOE x TWS
Chloe worked with to Woke Souls to create custom artwork for the article headers between 2018-2019. Her illustrations combined the brand colours in soft watercolours, with more prominent, yet still fine, black lines to create a quirky, light and laid-back feel. They were, and still are an asset, adding character to the posts and helping to shape the site.
